Sec. § 29.917
Higher Education and Workforce Readiness Programs


(a)

From funds appropriated for the purpose, the commissioner may award grants to organizations that provide volunteers to teach classroom or after-school programs to enhance:

(1)

college readiness;

(2)

workforce readiness;

(3)

dropout prevention; or

(4)

personal financial literacy.

(b)

To implement or administer a program under this section, the commissioner may accept gifts, grants, and donations from public or private entities.

(c)

The commissioner may conduct a study of the programs under this section to determine the success of the programs in preparing students for higher education and participation in the workforce.
