Liberty County
(a)
The Liberty County Juvenile Board is composed of the county judge and at least two citizens of Liberty County appointed by the county judge with the approval of the commissioners court. The juvenile probation officer may be appointed as a public member. The public members serve two-year terms.(b)
The commissioners court may pay the juvenile board members additional annual compensation in an amount set by the commissioners court. The additional compensation is for the added duties imposed on the members and shall be paid in equal monthly installments from the general fund or any other appropriate fund of the county. The compensation paid to the public members is in addition to any other salary received by a public member. If the juvenile probation officer serves as a public member, the officer may not receive additional compensation for serving on the board.(c)
The commissioners court shall certify all claims for expenses of the juvenile probation officer and the officer’s assistants as necessary in the performance of the officer’s duties. The commissioners court shall provide the necessary funds to pay the salaries and expenses of the juvenile probation officer and the officer’s assistants.(d)
The county judge shall serve as the judge of the juvenile court.(e)
Sections 152.0002 (Board Meetings), 152.0004 (General Expenses), 152.0005 (Expenses of Board Members and Juvenile Court), 152.0006 (Fiscal Officer), 152.0007 (Duties), and 152.0008 (Personnel) do not apply to the juvenile board of Liberty County.
