Sec. § 522.053
License Renewal Procedures


(a)

A person applying for renewal of a commercial driver’s license must complete the application form required by the department, including updated information and required certifications.

(b)

To retain a hazardous materials endorsement, an applicant must pass the written test for that endorsement.

(c)

The department may require an examination, including a vision test, for the renewal of a commercial driver’s license.

(d)

Before renewing a commercial driver’s license, the department shall check the applicant’s driving record as required by 49 C.F.R. Section 383.73.

Sec. 522.054. LICENSE EXPIRATION: PERSON AT LEAST 85 YEARS OF AGE. (a) Each original commercial driver’s license of a person 85 years of age or older expires on the license holder’s second birthday after the date of the license application.

(b)

A commercial driver’s license of a person 85 years of age or older that is renewed expires on the second anniversary of the expiration date before renewal.
