Tex. Health & Safety Code Section 461A.106
Compulsive Gambling Program

(a)

The department shall establish a program for:

(1)

public education, research, and training regarding problem or compulsive gambling; and

(2)

the treatment and prevention of problem or compulsive gambling.

(b)

The department’s program under Subsection (a) must include:

(1)

establishing and maintaining a list of Internet sites and toll-free “800” telephone numbers of nonprofit entities that provide crisis counseling and referral services to families experiencing difficulty as a result of problem or compulsive gambling;

(2)

promoting public awareness regarding the recognition and prevention of problem or compulsive gambling;

(3)

facilitating, through in-service training and other means, the availability of effective assistance programs for problem or compulsive gamblers; and

(4)

conducting studies to identify adults and juveniles in this state who are, or who are at risk of becoming, problem or compulsive gamblers.
