Tex. Health & Safety Code Section 282.127
Effect of Conversion

(a)

A district converted under this subchapter is governed by Article IX, Section 9, of the Texas Constitution and by Chapter 206, Acts of the 71st Legislature, Regular Session, 1989 (Article 4494q-1, Vernon’s Texas Civil Statutes), as if it had been originally created under that section and that Act, except that the board shall continue to be elected as provided by this chapter.

(b)

The district’s identity is not affected by the conversion, and the district is liable for all outstanding debts and obligations assumed or incurred by the district.

(c)

Notwithstanding any other provision of law, the board may impose taxes for the entire year in which the district is converted unless the county has imposed taxes for the benefit of the district for that year.
Added by Acts 1991, 72nd Leg., ch. 94, Sec. 1, eff. May 15, 1991.
