Educ. Code Section 38.201
Definitions
(1)
“Advisory committee” means the committee established under Section 38.202 (Advisory Committee: Establishment and Composition).(2)
“Anaphylaxis” means a sudden, severe, and potentially life-threatening allergic reaction that occurs when a person is exposed to an allergen.(3)
“Epinephrine auto-injector” means a disposable medical drug delivery device that contains a premeasured single dose of epinephrine that is intended to be used to treat anaphylaxis.(3-a)
“Medication for respiratory distress” means albuterol, levalbuterol, or another medication designated by the executive commissioner of the Health and Human Services Commission for treatment of respiratory distress under Section 38.208 (Maintenance and Administration of Epinephrine Auto-injectors and Medication for Respiratory Distress)(c).(4)
“Physician” means a person who holds a license to practice medicine in this state.(5)
“Private school” means a school that:(A)
offers a course of instruction for students in one or more grades from prekindergarten through grade 12;(B)
is not operated by a governmental entity; and(C)
is not a school whose students meet the definition provided by Section 29.916 (Home-schooled Student Merit Scholarship and Advanced Placement Testing)(a)(1).(6)
“School personnel” means an employee of a school district, open-enrollment charter school, or private school. The term includes a member of the board of trustees of a school district or the governing body of an open-enrollment charter school or private school.
