Additional Powers


The authority may:

(1)

provide for the conservation, preservation, protection, recharge, and prevention of waste of groundwater in a manner consistent with the purposes of Section 59, Article XVI, Texas Constitution;

(2)

for the purposes of reducing groundwater withdrawals and subsidence, acquire or develop surface water and groundwater supplies from sources inside or outside the authority and may conserve, store, transport, treat, purify, distribute, sell, and deliver water to persons inside and outside the authority;

(3)

coordinate water services provided inside, outside, or into the authority;

(4)

provide for the reduction of groundwater withdrawals by the development, implementation, or enforcement of a groundwater reduction plan as provided by Section 8888.157 (Groundwater Reduction Plan);

(5)

identify sources of water other than groundwater to be provided by the authority;

(6)

specify the rates and terms under which sources of water other than groundwater will be provided by the authority, which may be changed as considered necessary by the authority;

(7)

specify the dates and extent to which each person in the authority shall accept water from the authority; and

(8)

administer and enforce this chapter.
