Tex. Ins. Code Section 2151.001
Definitions

In this chapter:

(1)

“Association” means the Texas Automobile Insurance Plan Association.

(2)

“Authorized insurer” means an insurer authorized by the department to write automobile liability coverage under this title. The term includes a county mutual insurance company organized under Chapter 912 (County Mutual Insurance Companies).

(3)

“Insurance” means an insurance policy that meets the requirements of Chapter 601 (Motor Vehicle Safety Responsibility Act), Transportation Code.
