Tex. Human Resources Code Section 203.014
Toll-free Number


(a)

The department shall establish a permanent, toll-free number for the purpose of receiving any information concerning the abuse, neglect, or exploitation of children in the custody of the department or housed in a local probation facility.

(b)

The department shall ensure that:

(1)

the toll-free number is prominently displayed in each department facility and each local probation facility;

(2)

children in the custody of the department or housed in a local probation facility and employees of the department and the facility have confidential access to telephones for the purpose of calling the toll-free number; and

(3)

the toll-free number is in operation and answered by staff 24 hours a day, every day of the year.

(c)

The office of inspector general shall operate the toll-free number required by Subsection (a) and the 24-hour incident reporting center and shall share the complaints received with the appropriate department entity.
