Labeling Passed Products

(a)

When meat or a meat food product prepared for intrastate commerce that has been inspected as provided by this chapter and marked “Texas inspected and passed” is placed or packed in a container or covering in an establishment in which inspection is performed under this chapter, the person preparing the product shall attach a label to the container or covering stating that the contents have been “Texas inspected and passed” under this chapter. The inspector shall supervise the attachment of the label and the sealing or enclosing of the meat or meat food product in the container or covering.

(b)

When an inspected carcass, part of a carcass, meat, or a meat food product is found to be unadulterated and leaves the establishment, it must bear legible information on itself or its container, as required by department rule, to prevent it from being misbranded.
