Articles Not Intended for Human Consumption

(a)

Under this subchapter, the department may not inspect an establishment for the slaughter of livestock or the preparation of carcasses, parts of carcasses, or products of livestock if the articles are not intended for use as human food. Before offered for sale or transportation in intrastate commerce, those articles, unless naturally inedible by humans, shall be denatured or identified as provided by department rule to deter their use for human food.

(b)

A person may not buy, sell, transport, offer for sale or transportation, or receive for transportation in intrastate commerce a carcass, part of a carcass, meat, or a meat food product that is not intended for use as human food unless the article is naturally inedible by humans, denatured, or identified as required by department rule.
