Notice of Filing Required; Hearing Date


(a)

This section applies only to:

(1)

a filing by a guardian whose ward is a beneficiary of the Department of Veterans Affairs of:

(A)

an annual or other account of funds; or

(B)

an application for the expenditure or investment of funds; or

(2)

a filing of a claim against the estate of a ward who is a beneficiary of the Department of Veterans Affairs.

(b)

The court shall set a date for a hearing of a matter initiated by a filing to which this section applies not earlier than 20 days from the date of the filing.

(c)

Not later than the fifth day after the date of a filing to which this section applies, the person who makes the filing shall give notice of the date of the filing by mailing a certified copy of the filing to the office of the Department of Veterans Affairs in whose territory the court is located.

(d)

An office of the Department of Veterans Affairs through its attorney may waive the service of notice or the time required for setting a hearing under this section.
