Exception for Family Members and Friends

A family member or friend of an incapacitated person is not required to be certified under Subchapter C (Standards for Certain Guardianships and Alternatives to Guardianship), Chapter 155 (Duties Respecting Guardianship), Government Code, or any other law to serve as the person’s guardian.
