Tex. Educ. Code Section 11.056
Write-in Voting

(a)

In an election for trustees of an independent school district, a write-in vote may not be counted for a person unless that person has filed a declaration of write-in candidacy with the secretary of the board of trustees in the manner provided for write-in candidates in the general election for state and county officers.

(b)

A declaration of write-in candidacy must be filed not later than the deadline prescribed by Section 146.054 (Filing Deadline), Election Code, for a write-in candidate in a city election.

(c)

With the appropriate modifications and to the extent practicable, Subchapter B (Applicability of Subchapter), Chapter 146 (Write-in Candidate), Election Code, applies to write-in voting in an election for trustees of an independent school district.

(d)

The secretary of state shall adopt the rules necessary to implement this section.

(e)
