Tex. Water Code Section 50.004
Write-in Voting in Certain Districts

(a)

In a general election for board members under this chapter or Chapter 51 (Water Control and Improvement Districts), 52 (Underground Water Conservation Districts), 53 (Fresh Water Supply Districts), 54 (Municipal Utility Districts), 55 (Water Improvement Districts), or 58 (Irrigation Districts) of this code, a write-in vote may not be counted unless the name written in appears on the list of write-in candidates.

(d)

A declaration of write-in candidacy must be filed not later than 5 p.m. of the 45th day before election day. However, if a candidate whose name is to appear on the ballot dies or is declared ineligible after the 48th day before election day, a declaration of write-in candidacy for the office sought by the deceased or ineligible candidate may be filed not later than 5 p.m. of the 42nd day before election day.
