Alamo License Plates
(a)
The department shall issue specialty license plates that include the image of the Alamo and the word “Remember” at the bottom of each plate.(b)
After deduction of the department’s administrative costs, the remainder of the fee for issuance of the license plates shall be deposited to the credit of an account created by the comptroller in the manner provided by Section 504.6012 (Elimination of Dedicated Revenue Accounts; Revenues in Trust)(b). Money deposited to that account may be used only by the General Land Office as follows:(1)
75 percent of the money shall be used for the preservation of the Alamo; and(2)
25 percent of the money shall be used to enhance the Alamo visitor experience or to fund education programs about the Alamo.(b)
After deduction of the department’s administrative costs, the remainder of the fee for issuance of the license plates shall be deposited to the credit of the general revenue fund to be used only by the office of the governor in making grants to nonprofit organizations for the purpose of funding the purchase of police dogs by law enforcement agencies.(b)
After deduction of the department’s administrative costs, the remainder of the fee for issuance of the license plates shall be deposited to the credit of the general revenue fund to be used only by the Texas Education Agency in making grants to nonprofit organizations for the purpose of funding the purchase of police dogs by a public or private primary or secondary school or by an institution of higher education or private or independent institution of higher education.
