Falsification or Forgery
(a)
A person commits an offense if the person knowingly provides false or incorrect information or without legal authority signs the name of another person on a statement or application filed or given as required by this chapter.(b)
Subsection (a) does not apply to a statement or application filed or given under Section 502.060 (Replacement of Registration Insignia), 502.092 (Nonresident-owned Vehicles Used to Transport Farm Products), 502.093 (Annual Permits), 502.094, 502.095, 504.201 (Persons with Disabilities), 504.202 (Veterans with Disabilities)(b-1), 504.508 (Tow Trucks), or 504.515 (Honorary Consuls).(b)
Subsection (a) does not apply to a statement or application filed or given under Section 502.060 (Replacement of Registration Insignia), 502.093 (Annual Permits), 502.094, 502.095, 504.201 (Persons with Disabilities), 504.202 (Veterans with Disabilities)(b-1), 504.508 (Tow Trucks), or 504.515 (Honorary Consuls).(c)
An offense under this section is a felony of the third degree.
