Tex. Ins. Code Section 886.003
Limited Exemption from Insurance Laws

A local mutual aid association is subject only to this chapter and Chapters 887 (Provisions Applicable to Certain Mutual Assessment Companies) and 888 (Burial Associations). Except as otherwise provided by this chapter, a local mutual aid association is exempt from all other insurance laws of this state, unless a local mutual aid association is expressly designated in the law.
