Applicability of Certain Laws to Out-of-state Group Accident and Health Insurance Coverage

(a)

Chapters 1365 (Loss or Impairment of Speech or Hearing) and 1368 (Availability of Chemical Dependency Coverage) and Subchapters A (Applicability of Subchapter) and C, Chapter 1451 (Access to Certain Practitioners and Facilities), apply to:

(1)

a certificate of insurance issued to a resident of this state under a group accident and health insurance policy delivered, issued for delivery, or renewed outside this state; or

(2)

a certificate issued to a resident of this state under a policy delivered, issued for delivery, or renewed outside this state by a group hospital service corporation.

(b)

Subsection (a) does not apply to a specified disease or limited benefit policy.
