Tex. Health & Safety Code Section 1001.073
General Powers and Duties of Department Related to Substance Abuse

The department is responsible for administering human services programs regarding substance abuse, including:

(1)

administering, coordinating, and contracting for the delivery of substance abuse prevention and treatment programs at the state and local level;

(2)

inspecting, licensing, and enforcing regulations regarding substance abuse treatment facilities; and

(3)

providing public education on substance abuse issues, as directed by law.
