Deadline for Filing Certain Rules
(a)
A rule on electoral affairs that is to become effective in a year in which the party will hold precinct conventions under this title must be filed with the secretary of state and posted on the party’s Internet website not later than the 30th day before the date the party convenes its earliest precinct conventions. The secretary of state may extend this deadline for good cause.(b)
If a political party fails to file a rule as provided by Subsection (a), the party is not entitled to have its nominees placed on the ballot for the general election for state and county officers.(c)
Before general primary election day, the secretary of state shall notify the authority responsible for having the official general election ballot prepared in each county of each political party that failed to file a rule as provided by Subsection (a) and shall order those authorities to omit the party’s nominees from the general election ballot.(d)
Before January 15 of each year in which political parties hold precinct conventions under this title, the secretary of state shall deliver written notice of the requirements of this section to the state chair of each party that had a nominee for a statewide or district office on the most recent general election ballot.
