Tex. Educ. Code Section 66.43
University Lands: Surveys; Personnel


(a)

The board of regents shall cause to be done such surveying or resurveying of the blocks and subdivisions of the university lands as may be necessary to enable the lines of the blocks and sections and fractional sections to be determined and identified and have such corners as may be necessary to that end permanently marked. When it is impracticable to establish such lines and corners as originally surveyed, or when such sections have not been actually surveyed on the ground, the blocks shall be surveyed or resurveyed and divided into surveys of sections and fractional sections, and as many corners thereof as may be necessary for the identification shall be permanently marked. The surveyors to do such surveying shall be employed by the board. The field notes of such surveys shall be returned to the general land office, and when correct and in accordance with law shall be approved by the commissioner of the general land office, filed in the general land office, and become archives therein.

(b)

The board of regents may employ and compensate personnel the board deems necessary in connection with performance of any duties under this section or under Subchapter D of this chapter.
