Definitions
(1)
“Bona fide Texas resident” means a person defined as a “resident student” in Subchapter B (Definitions), Chapter 54 (Tuition and Fees) of this code, and rules, regulations, and interpretations promulgated under that subchapter by the board or the Commission on Higher Education.(2)
“Established public medical schools” means The University of Texas Medical Branch and Southwestern Medical School.(3)
“Undergraduate medical student” means a person enrolled for a regular schedule of courses in pursuit of a Doctor of Medicine degree.(4)
“Scholastic year of disbursement” means the period of time commencing on September 1 of each calendar year and terminating on August 31 of the next succeeding calendar year. The first scholastic year of disbursement commences on September 1, 1970, and terminates on August 31, 1971.(5)
“Average annual state tax support per undergraduate medical student enrolled at the established public medical schools” means an amount calculated by dividing the net general revenue appropriations to the established public medical schools for the fiscal year next preceding the scholastic year of disbursement by the total number of undergraduate medical students enrolled in those schools on October 15 of the fiscal year.
