Bailiffs Appointed; Compensation


(a)

The court and the district attorney may each appoint one or more bailiffs to attend to the grand jury.

(b)

The court, or a person under the direction of the court, shall administer the following oath to each bailiff at the time of appointment: “You solemnly swear that you will faithfully and impartially perform all the duties of bailiff of the grand jury, and that you will keep secret the proceedings of the grand jury, so help you God.”

(c)

Bailiffs appointed under this article shall be compensated in an amount set by the applicable county commissioners court.
