Tex. Health & Safety Code Section 555.151
Definitions


In this subchapter:

(1)

“Authorized electronic monitoring” means the placement of an electronic monitoring device in a resident’s room and making tapes or recordings with the device after making a request to the center to allow electronic monitoring.

(2)

“Electronic monitoring device”:

(A)

includes:
(i)
video surveillance cameras installed in a resident’s room; and
(ii)
audio devices installed in a resident’s room designed to acquire communications or other sounds occurring in the room; and

(B)

does not include an interception device that is specifically used for the nonconsensual interception of wire or electronic communications.
