Kleberg County Court at Law Provisions
(a)
In addition to the jurisdiction provided by Section 25.0003 (Jurisdiction) and other law, a county court at law in Kleberg County has concurrent jurisdiction with the district court in:(1)
family law cases and proceedings; and(2)
felony cases to conduct arraignments, conduct pretrial hearings, and accept guilty pleas.(b)

A bond is not required of a judge of a county court at law.(d)
A judge of a county court at law shall be paid an annual salary that is at least $32,000 but not more than $1,000 less than the salary paid by the state to a district judge. A county court at law judge is entitled to travel expenses and necessary office expenses, including administrative and clerical assistance, in the same manner as the county judge.(e)

The district clerk serves as clerk of each county court at law in cases enumerated in Subsection (a)(2), and the county clerk serves as clerk of a county court at law in all other cases. The district clerk shall establish a separate docket for a county court at law.(g)

The jury in all civil or criminal matters is composed of 12 members, except that in misdemeanor criminal cases and any other case in which the court has concurrent jurisdiction with the county court the jury is composed of six members.(i)
