Dallas County Criminal Court of Appeals Provisions
(a)
A county criminal court of appeals in Dallas County has:(1)
sole jurisdiction in the county of all appeals from criminal convictions for violation of state law or municipal ordinances of municipalities located in the county in justice courts, municipal courts, or municipal courts of record in the county; and(2)
concurrent criminal original and appellate jurisdiction in the county as provided by the constitution and by law for county courts.(b)

A judge of a county criminal court of appeals shall be paid an annual salary that is not less than $1,000 less than the total annual salary, including supplements, received by a district judge in the county. The salary shall be paid out of the county treasury by the commissioners court.(d)

A county criminal court of appeals or its judge may issue writs of habeas corpus and grant injunctions for the enforcement of the penal laws in cases in which the offense charged is within the jurisdiction of the court or any court or tribunal of inferior jurisdiction. The court or its judge may punish for contempt as prescribed by general law.(g)

The official court reporter of a county criminal court of appeals is not required to take testimony in a case in which neither party nor the judge demands it.(m)
The official court reporter of a county criminal court of appeals is entitled to receive the same fees and salary as a district court reporter.(n)
Sections 25.0003 (Jurisdiction)(a) and (c) do not apply to a county criminal court of appeals in Dallas County.
