Tex. Agric. Code Section 148.003
Slaughter of Unbranded or Unmarked Livestock; Slaughter Without Bill of Sale

(a)

A slaughterer may not purchase or slaughter for market livestock that is unmarked or unbranded.

(b)

A slaughterer may not purchase and slaughter any animal without receiving a bill of sale or written transfer from the person selling the livestock.

(c)

This section does not apply to the slaughter of an animal raised by the slaughterer.
